New Delhi, Jul 26: BCCI President N Srinivasan on Wednesday backed the leg spinner Rahul Sharma, who was tested positive for consumption of drugs during a rave party in Mumbai during the month of May and said since the tests were not conducted under WADA regulation, the spinner has not breached anything.
Talking to reporters, Srinivasan said since he was not tested while playing any tournament nor under WADA regulations, the cricketer cannot be blamed.
"He was not tested while in competition and not under WADA regulations. I do not think he has breached anything."
When reports about Rahul Sharma tested positive were out, Indian Premier League chairman Rajeev Shukla had said, BCCI will study the report given by the Police before coming to a conclusion, after Pune Warriors' Wayne Parnell and Rahul Sharma were held at a rave pary in Mumbai during May 2012, tested positive for drugs.
The leg spinner who is currently with the Indian cricket team in Sri Lanka was left out of the first two ODIs against the hosts played at Hambantota.
With BCCI backing Rahul Sharma, the rave party episode seems to be almost over, as the test results had nothing to do with the tournament that he was playing.
